Colored to Black and White Using Photoshop



In our fast changing technology, Black and White Photographs can either be taken the way in first place or it can be done through modern software processing techniques. Either way you have an option. In this tutorial you will learn the fastest and easiest way of converting your images from Colored to Black and White using one of the best software when it comes to photo editing.

Follow the step by step procedure:

Step 1: Open any colored image in Adobe Photoshop, you may also download free images here online.


Step 2: Click on Image, Adjustments, Black & White, you can also navigate the sliders for color adjustment, also by clicking the Tint check box will allow you to enable tinting of the image. Click OK.


Step 3: Save your work. Go to FileSave as, then write the file name and choose the file format then click Save. Most common  file formats are .JPG, .BMP, and .PNG make sure that you also save it in Adobe Photoshop format .PSD in order for you to edit anytime.

Note: If you want much faster way of converting colored to black and white images, after opening the image on Adobe Photoshop you can directly go to Image, Mode, Grayscale. However, by doing this, tinting and color adjustment/navigation is not possible. Nevertheless, you may add some effects in Filter menu.

Tips & Tricks:
Press Alt + Shift + Ctrl + B keyboard shortcut for Image, Adjustment, Black & White
Press Shift + Command + Option + B for Image, Adjustment, Black & White in Mac
Press V for Selection tool
Space bar for Hand tool
